Germany is a country situated in west central Europe. Its capital and largest city is Berlin. Its population is estimated to be of   81,799,600 people. The official language is German. The currency (money) used is the Euro.

Geography

Germany is in Western and Central Europe, with Denmark bordering to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, France and Luxembourg to the southwest, and Belgium and the Netherlands to the northwest. Most of Germany has a temperate seasonal climate in which humid westernly winds predominate.

A little bit of history

Germany  dates back to the Bronze age. This was a long time before Jesus Christ. German tribes came from southern Scandinavia and north Germany where they expanded south, east and west from the 1st century BC, coming into contact with the Celtic tribes of Gaul as well as Iranian, Baltic, and Slavic tribes in Central and Eastern Europe. Its only during the 3rd century after the death of Jesus Christ that the German tribes gained control of their territory over the Romans and established their frontiers more or less as we know them today.
Its history was troubled by territorial wars all along the way. The 20th century did not escape that reality. Germany was at the center of two major wold wars that left the country seperated in two by the Berlin wall. It's only in 1989 that the wall was destroyed so that the western and eastern parts of Germany could be reunited as one whole country again.

Many great scientists, musicians, writers and politicians come from Germany. Here are a few names that will surely be familiar to you: Albert Einstein, the father of modern physics, the brothers Grimm, collectors of folk tales and stories, Ludvig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss , famous classical music composers.

Tourism in Germany

Germany, like all the European countries has a lot to offer tourists. The historical sites, castles, beautiful landscapes and fun activities are sure to please everyone.
Here are some of the wonders you can see in Germany.

City of Cologne by night

Cologne is one of the oldest cities in Germany founded by Romans. Lying on the bank of River Rhine, it is famous for the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), which is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. On your sightseeing tour across Cologne, don’t miss out on the many marvelous museums situated within the bounds of the city. There are around 30 museums in Cologne, all of which preserve some of the precious vestiges of the past.

Merry Christmas, song by John Lennon

This song was written by one of the greatests advocates for peace in the world. As far as I'm concerned, it is one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever made. The lyrics are quite beautiful.

JOHN LENNON
"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"

(Yoko Ono & John Lennon)

(Happy Xmas Kyoko
Happy Xmas Julian)

So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas (war is over)
For weak and for strong (if you want it)
For rich and the poor ones (war is over)
The world is so wrong (if you want it)
And so happy Xmas (war is over)
For black and for white (if you want it)
For yellow and red ones (war is over)
Let's stop all the fight (now)

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas (war is over)
And what have we done (if you want it)
Another year over (war is over)
A new one just begun (if you want it)
And so happy Xmas (war is over)
We hope you have fun (if you want it)
The near and the dear one (war is over)
The old and the young (now)

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

War is over, if you want it
War is over now

Happy Xmas

Only two weeks left before Christmas...

1st grade: We are currently working on feelings and emotions. We are practicing sentences to ask people about their feelings. We are also learning to talk about our feelings.

'' How do you feel today?''
I feel... ( tired, angry, sad, happy, exhausted...)
Next week, we are doing some special Chritmas activities.

2nd grade: We are continuing with months and seasons and we are focusing more on winter and Chritmas.

3rd grade: We started a unit on breakfast foods. We are talking about our tastes in food. We are also making the difference between healthy and not so healthy food.

''What do you like to eat for breakfast? ''
''I like to eat...  ''
Is this healthy or not

Very healthy breakfast foods

4th grade: We are completing the unit My class/ My orchestra. We are also working on a team poster on good team work. We are also doing a review exercise on telling time because many students stil have difficulty with it. Next week, special activities for christmas.

5th grade: Mini test on Unit one. Passions and personality. We are also going to work on questions and question words.

6th grade: Mini test on unit one. We are going to do an interview in teams of two. Also, we are receiving letters from all over Europe. Cool! Next week, Christmas cards and Chrismas song.
``So this is Christmas...'' by the Beatles.
